Professor Jasser Auda has prepared an easy-to-read and thought-provoking review of common cultural practices in relation to women’s attendance and participation in masaajid. Relevant, contemporary questions are addressed with well-researched positions based on classical Islamic traditions and the example of our Blessed Prophet (SAW).
The text includes fascinating insights including women who lived in the masjid, the first emergency clinic in Islamic history, children who led the salaah and the active role of women in society, jurisprudence and decision-making.
Definitely a must read for anyone who wants to understand how to approach Islamic guidance and the Prophetic example without bias or social influence, while recognising and respecting difference of opinion amongst scholars.
